open doors

CA Alliance’s Catalyst Center, the California Association of Alcohol and Drug Program Executives (CAADPE), and the National Council for Mental Wellbeing (National Council), in collaboration with the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI), have launched Open Doors, a project to develop a statewide training program for non-clinician and non-behavioral health professionals in California who work with youth. The aim of this program is to increase the capacity for youth-facing and youth-serving professionals to identify and engage with youth who have or are at risk of developing substance use disorders, with an emphasis on juvenile justice and systems-impacted youth and their broader behavioral health needs. The project will achieve this aim by developing and administering both a core training curriculum and train-the-trainer curriculum to expand reach and impact. Ultimately, this project strives to combat the escalating crisis of substance use and overdose among Californian youth and to create a brighter future for all.
