Chapter Success Toolkit for Young People in Recovery: Chapter Lead First 60 Day Plan
Congratulations on your decision to become a chapter lead for young people in recovery! To help you get started, we’ve put together a 60-day plan to help you establish a successful chapter. This plan includes weekly all-recovery meetings, bi-weekly pro-socials, quarterly launches, and twice a month leadership meetings. We’ve also included a plan for outreach and learning data and admin systems.
Week 1:
- Reach out to local recovery organizations and introduce yourself as the new chapter lead.
- Schedule a meeting with your core team to discuss the chapter’s goals and vision.
- Create a timeline for the next 60 days and assign tasks to your team members.
- Schedule the first weekly all-recovery meeting for the following week.
- Set up a communication system for the chapter, such as a group chat or email list.
- Schedule the first leadership meeting for two weeks from now.
Week 2:
- Host the first weekly all-recovery meeting.
- After the meeting, discuss any feedback with your team and make adjustments if necessary.
- Schedule the first pro-social event for two weeks from now.
- Create a sign-up sheet for members who are interested in volunteering for the event.
Week 3:
- Follow up with the volunteers for the pro-social event and assign tasks.
- Check in with your team to make sure everything is on track for the event.
- Send out a reminder to the chapter about the pro-social event.
- Host the first leadership meeting.
Week 4:

Week 6:

- Follow up with your team members to make sure everything is on track for the event.
- Send out a reminder to the chapter about the event.
- Host the second leadership meeting.
Week 7:
- Host the quarterly launch event.
- After the event, debrief with your team and gather feedback.
- Schedule the next weekly all-recovery meeting for the following week.
- Discuss any updates to the chapter’s goals or vision with your team.
Week 8:
- Host the weekly all-recovery meeting.
- After the meeting, discuss any feedback with your team and make adjustments if necessary.
- Create a plan for outreach and recruitment.
- Set up a system for collecting data on chapter attendance and engagement.
- Host the third leadership meeting.
Overall, the first 60 days should focus on establishing a strong foundation for the chapter. This includes building relationships with local recovery organizations, hosting regular all-recovery meetings and pro-social events, and planning for the quarterly launch event. Additionally, you should have a plan in place for outreach and recruitment, as well as data and admin systems to track the chapter’s progress. Regular leadership meetings will also help ensure that your team is aligned and working together effectively. With a solid foundation in place, you can continue to grow and develop the chapter over time.
